October is Breast Cancer Awareness month

October signifies Breast Cancer Awareness Month, during which Advanced Skin Care has consistently undertaken philanthropic efforts for breast cancer causes through our Annual October Pink event over the past 9 years. This year, in alignment with the prevailing circumstances, we are transitioning to a hybrid format. Our chosen beneficiary is the WellStar Breast Center, renowned for being the inaugural breast center in Georgia to obtain a comprehensive three-year accreditation from the esteemed National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).

The WellStar Breast Center stands distinguished for offering a comprehensive spectrum of esteemed medical professionals, cutting-edge treatment modalities, and advanced diagnostic instruments. Moreover, the center provides an array of supportive services meticulously designed to guide patients and their families throughout their treatment trajectory. These services encompass counseling provisions, exercise regimens, and nutritional guidance, enhancing the holistic well-being of individuals in their journey.

Highlighting pertinent statistics from the American Cancer Society regarding breast cancer in the United States:

Approximately 1 in 8 U.S. women, equivalent to approximately 12%, will encounter the onset of invasive breast cancer during their lifetimes.
Breast cancer fatality rates among American women exceed those associated with all other cancers, excluding lung cancer.
Instances of breast cancer substantially elevate, nearly doubling, for women with a primary-degree relative (such as a mother, sister, or daughter) having experienced breast cancer.
Significantly, around 85% of breast cancer cases emerge in women lacking a familial history of the condition. These occurrences arise primarily from genetic mutations attributed to the aging process and general life factors, rather than hereditary mutations.
Estimates from the American Cancer Society project approximately 207,000 newly diagnosed cases in the present year. Notably, early-stage breast cancer exhibits a remarkably high curability rate, with a five-year survival rate of approximately 95%.

Eminent medical practitioners at WellStar endorse the annual undertaking of mammograms beyond the age of 40 for women categorized as having an average risk profile. For women with a familial history of breast cancer, it is prudent to engage in conversations with healthcare professionals regarding the potential need for earlier screening or genetic evaluation.

We cordially invite you to secure your participation in our Virtual Pink event, scheduled for October 1st. As is our tradition, an assortment of splendid raffle baskets and exclusive offers awaits. We eagerly anticipate your presence during this eventful occasion.
